Most recently, he was Full Professor, Head of the Ministry of Human Nutrition, and Associate Dean for Scholarship and Research at Kansas State University. He has been on the faculties of State University of Mississippi, University of Wyoming, and Ohio State University. He has also spent time as a visiting faculty member at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina and the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.
The main research zone focuses on the position of minerals, particularly copper, on the integrity of the cardiovascular system; and the role of iron in bone integrity. He has received more than $4 million in grants to support his research efforts from institutions such as the National Institutes of Health, the United States Department of Agriculture, and the National Science Foundation. He has written or co-authored more than 120 scientific posts referred to by colleagues. He has taught classes at both introductory and advanced levels for undergraduate students and has taught graduate level courses throughout his career. Doctor. Robert Wildman received a PhD in Human Nutrition from The Ohio State University in 1994, an MS in Food and Nutrition from The Florida State University in 1991 and a BS in Diet and Nutrition from the University of Pittsburgh in 1988. He has been on the faculty at Ohio University, University of Delaware, University of Louisiana-Lafayette and currently located at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.
Dr. Wildman is a Fellow of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) and a lecturer at Texas State University.Doctor Wildman’s main research areas include: 1) the effect of specific levels and timing of specific nutrients in athletic performance and fitness, 2) the role of nutrition/nutrition in modifying metabolism, body weight, composition and emotional well-being, 3) Nutraceuticals and functional food in health indicators and fitness and 4) specific nutritional status, exercise and body status on cardiac performance.
